CV12: Zhong Wan - Middle Cavity

CV12.jpg

Les Demoiselles d'Avignon is one of the first cubist paintings Pablo Picasso did, causing controversy during that time. I have chosen this painting to depict the acupuncture point CV12 on the conception vessel called Zhong Wan, which translates as “Middle Cavity” as a contrast as it is one of the most uncontroversial and commonly used points to address a multitude of digestive issues in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It is located exactly between the umbilicus and the sternocostal notch (the bottom end of your sternum), where 5 of the yang organs meet. To activate the point, use the palm of your hand to apply firm but soft pressure and make circular motions till some heat is generated for a minute, as needed.

In the context of Cosmetic rejuvenation, this point is a great supplement in a treatment to address many skin concerns since the digestive system is so closely tied into skin health, especially in terms of detoxification.
